Sharing is caring!

Are you planning a birthday party for your little one and want to make it memorable? Why not throw a dinosaur-themed party? Kids love dinosaurs and this theme provides endless opportunities for creativity and fun. Here are some ideas to make your party roar-some!

Invitations

First, you need to send out invitations. You can create your own invitations using dinosaur-themed clipart in Canva, or you can buy pre-made ones. Make sure to include all the details of the party, including the date, time, location, and RSVP information. Here’s an example of a template you can adapt in Canva, my favourite easy-to-use design programme. You can just change the details to suit you and print them from home.

Decorations

Next, you need to set the scene. You can transform your party space into a prehistoric world by using green and brown streamers and balloons to create a jungle-like atmosphere. You can also create a dinosaur nest using pillows and blankets, and set up a dinosaur photo booth area with props for guests to take pictures.

Activities

Now it’s time to plan some activities. Here are some dinosaur-themed activity ideas that kids will love:

  1. Dinosaur Dig – Hide toy dinosaurs in a sandbox or a large container filled with sand and let the kids dig for them.
  2. Dinosaur Fossil Making – You can create your own dinosaur fossils using plaster of Paris and dinosaur molds. Once the fossils are dry, the kids can paint them.
  3. Dinosaur Egg Hunt – Hide treasure chests or eggs filled with treats or dinosaur toys around the party area for the kids to find.
  4. Pin the Tail on the Dinosaur – This is a fun twist on the classic party game, Pin the Tail on the Donkey. Blindfolded kids try to pin the tail on a large dinosaur cutout.
  5. Dinosaur Arts and Crafts – Set up a table with dinosaur-themed craft supplies such as paper plates, glue, scissors, and googly eyes. Kids can make their own paper plate dinosaur masks or create dinosaur puppets.

Food

No party is complete without food. Here are some dinosaur-themed food ideas:

  1. Dino Nuggets – Serve chicken nuggets and call them “dino nuggets.” Some supermarkets will sell dinosaur-shaped nuggets, so look out for those in your next shop.
  2. Volcano Cake – Bake a cake and decorate it to look like a volcano with lava flowing down the sides.
  3. Dinosaur Egg Cookies – Use sugar cookie dough to make egg-shaped cookies and decorate them to look like dinosaur eggs. If you can get some mini egg chocolates they will be great too.
  4. Prehistoric Punch – Make green or red punch and add toy dinosaurs as an extra touch.
